Gerald T. Forbey

Gerald Forbey was born October 6, 1919 in Freeport, Michigan to George and Susie (Thomas) Forbey.  He graduated from Freeport High School in 1938.

Gerald worked on a farm in Climax until enlisting in the Army of the United States Air Force serving from January 1942 until December 1945 as a Staff Sergeant serving in Foggia, Italy.

He was employed at E.W. Bliss Company for 34 years as a Maintenance Electrician, retiring in 1982.

He married Kathleen Jean Curran on December 7, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah and she passed away April 15, 1950.

He married Myrtle V. Lacy on October 26, 1951 and she died may 16, 1998.

Gerald was a member of First United Methodist Church, was Treasurer of the Men’s Bowling Association of Hastings for 17 years, and enjoyed bowling and golfing

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, William H. Forbey; sister, Velma J. Chaney; and niece, Juanita Voroughf.

Gerald’s family will receive friends on Thursday April 26, 2018 from 10 AM until the time of Funeral Services at 11 AM at Lauer Family Funeral Home – Wren Chapel, 1401 N. Broadway in Hastings, with Pastor Pete Peterson officiating. Interment will follow with Military Honors at Riverside Cemetery.
