Chauncey “Joe” Owens

Joe passed away at Eaton Community Palliative Care Center at the age of 87, surrounded by his family. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Marilyn; children, Dianne (Marti) Miller, Shelley (Randy) Purucker, Douglas (Candy) Owens, Rhonda Owens and Danny Owens; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren with 3 on the way.  Preceded in death by his parents, Curry and Stella Owens; brother, Robert Owens; sister, Neta Davis, and infant daughter, Carole Sue Owens. Joe’s greatest love in his life was first his wife and family and then his friends. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. In Joe’s early life, he served on the Concord Fire Department and was a founding member of the Big 9 Sportsman’s Club.  He was owner of Owens Petroleum. He was a member of the Albion Elks Lodge 1798 and was Elk of the Year in 1976. He hunted in the upper peninsula for 53 years at Camp Little Concord. He was a member of the Duck Lake Country Club. Joe and Marilyn wintered for 29 years at Avion Palms in Bowling Green, FL.  His hobbies included, hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, camping, traveling and woodworking. Joe’s family will receive friends on Wednesday April 11, 2018 from 5-8 PM at Lauer Family Funeral Home in Concord. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday April 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home with interment to follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Joe’s name to Eaton Community Palliative Care Center would be greatly appreciated by the family.
